BPresent Simple for Timetables

Use simple present for fixed programmes, public transit schedules, and official calendar dates.

•My flight departs at 11.30.

•What time does the lecture start tonight?

•The new semester starts four weeks after the results are published.

CGoing to for Intentions and Visible Predictions

Use 'going to' when a decision was made before speaking, or when present evidence makes the outcome certain.

•I've decided to renovate my apartment. I'm going to repaint it a light grey.

•Look at that queue outside the box office! The tickets are going to sell out. (evidence now)

•The cyclist isn't looking where he's going. He's going to hit that lamppost.
