Present Simple (I do)

Used to talk about things in general, scientific truths, permanent routines, and things that happen repeatedly.

Core Structure & Formula

Positive: Subject + Verb(s/es) (He teaches / They export / The factory produces)

Negative: Subject + do/does not + Infinitive (She doesn't agree)

Question: Do/Does + Subject + Infinitive? (Where does the company operate?)

AGeneral truths and habits

We use the present simple for facts that are always true or events that occur repeatedly.

•Engineers design systems that keep buildings safe during earthquakes.

•Fresh water freezes at zero degrees Celsius.

•The university library opens at 8 a.m. on weekdays.

BFrequency and routine

Used with adverbs of frequency (always, never, often, usually, sometimes) to express how often we do things.

•I check my emails at 7 o'clock every morning.

•How often do you submit assignments online?

•Marco doesn't travel for work very often.

CPerformative verbs (I promise / I apologise)

When we perform an act by speaking (promising, suggesting, advising, refusing), we use the simple present.

•I promise I won't miss the deadline. (not I'm promising)

•I suggest that you contact the admissions office tomorrow.

•I apologise for the confusion in my earlier email.
